The Wastewater Treatment Plant has been in service since March 1989. The Wastewater Treatment Plant is designed to treat 720,000 gallons of wastewater each day. In 2005 our average daily flow rate was 280,200 gallons, which is 39 % of our design capacity at the Plant. The treatment process consists of screenings removal, grit removal, aeration tank, secondary clarifiers, chlorine contact basins, and post aeration steps before the treated wastewater is discharged into Otter Creek. The Vine Grove Wastewater Treatment Plant also owns and operates a Land Farm facility to dispose of Bio-solids. The Land Farm Facility is located behind the Plant. The Plant consistently operates well below the KPDES permit limits. Our number one goal at the Wastewater Treatment Plant is to protect public health and to protect the waterways from pollutants. We take our job very seriously, because what we do today will have a lasting effect on tomorrow. In 2004 the Vine Grove Wastewater Plant won the Central Kentucky Water and Wastewater Operators Association (KWWOA) Small Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Year award.
